This year the Earls Barton Village Festival will run from Saturday 12th June to Carnival day on 19th June 2010.
This means that each year the festival will happen at or close to the longest day of the year. Surely no better time than that to have a good time!
Earls Barton Village Festival
Its surprising that given the size and population of Earls Barton we haven’t already done this but it is probably the very size of the community that may have prevented it. We lack focus and there is not enough to bring us together as a community.
Over the last few years the Carols on the Square has gone from strength to strength with close to 2000 people now turning out for the event. This is an indicator that people are prepared to get together for events. The annual Carnival day is regularly supported but the organisers are constantly striving to get extra help and to attract entries and events.
We live in a community with such diverse talents including art, drama, music, dance, flower arranging, quilting, photography and on and on. We have businesses and organisations that do things and we have a selection of buildings that can host performance and exhibitions.
All in all the ideal recipe for a village wide festival and what better time to think about doing it than in the week building up to Carnival weekend when the weather should, at least in theory, be good and the days are long.
So was born the idea for the Earls Barton Village Festival
